Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Encourages Acceleration Of Construction Of Cirebon-Semarang Earth Gas Transmission Pipelines

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif encouraged all levels of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to accelerate the construction of the Cirebon-Semarang (Cisem) natural gas transmission pipeline, which is currently entering the second phase of development.

"Accelerate the development of strategic natural gas infrastructure to encourage the interconnectivity of natural gas networks, one of which is the construction of the Cirebon-Semarang natural gas transmission pipeline," said Arifin Tasrif at the Inauguration and Oath-taking of High Leadership Officials within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which was held in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 14.

Arifin also asked his staff to increase strategic reserves or national oil and gas buffers, optimize the use of domestic gas, diversify energy resources to become alternative energy sources.

"Among them are through classification technology and the use of other sources in the downstream sector," said Arifin.

On this occasion, Arifin asked a number of newly appointed expert staff, such as Muhammad Idris Froyoto Sihite as Expert Staff for Strategic Planning to be able to increase strategic cooperation in the energy sector and mineral resources.

Thus, the energy sector and mineral resources can develop more quickly, be more efficient, and be more beneficial to the welfare of the community.

Previously, the Cisem gas pipeline project phase I cost IDR 1.13 trillion and Cisem stage II is planned to cost IDR 3.34 trillion, which will be included in the APBN with a multi-year contract scheme. The total cost of the Cisem gas pipeline project is IDR 4.47 trillion.

Arifin added that the potential for gas demand from the Cisem Phase II pipeline includes industries in Cirebon, Tegal, Pekalongan, Brebes and Pemalang, with a volume of 5.8-12 MMSCFD.

In addition, commercial consumers such as hotels and restaurants. Also, household gas networks, Balongan oil refineries, Indramayu, West Java, with a volume of 24 MMSCFD and a potential increase of up to 42 MMCSFD.
