Hotel Occupancy Is Predicted To Be More Than 70 Percent During The 2024 Eid Holiday

JAKARTA - Hotel occupancy or occupancy rates on the Eid al-Fitr holiday are estimated to be above 70 percent.

This is in line with the recovery of the hotel industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adyatama Tourism and Creative Economy The Main Expert of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) Nia Niscaya said, based on a report from the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), hotel occupancy during the Eid holiday will increase for favorite destination cities.

Meanwhile, in the Jakarta area, it is predicted that it will stagnate because people prefer to vacation outside the city.

"PHRI estimates that hotel occupancy during the Eid holiday will be high, based on the improvement of overall hotel conditions in Indonesia in 2024," Nia said at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, March 4.

"Previously reflecting on the Lebaran occupancy or ahead of Lebaran 2023, PHRI noted that hotel occupancy in the favorite tourist destination city was more than 70 percent," he continued.

Nia said, Yogyakarta, Malang and Cirebon became some of the favorite cities most visited by travelers during Lebaran 2023. Meanwhile, in the Jakarta area, PHRI noted no increase.

"This is normal, yes, the source of the wisnus from here is indeed homecoming outside (the city)," he said.

Nia suggested that entrepreneurs take steps to attract public interest, such as providing massive discounts.

Not only increasing hotel occupancy, but his party also received information from PT Garuda, the aviation industry, which also benefited in the momentum of this Eid holiday.

They even predict the number of air service passengers can increase by 30 percent compared to normal days.

"This is based on projections from the recovery of the post-pandemic aviation industry globally and also positive growth during the Christmas and New Year 2023 holidays," he added.

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) estimates that the number of travelers in Lebaran 2024 will reach 200 million people, an increase of about 6 percent compared to the same period last year, which was 108 million people.
