Ministry Of Trade Ensures TikTok Shop Transition To Tokopedia Is 90 Percent

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) revealed that the TikTok Shop system transition to Tokopedia has been running and has reached 90 percent.

As for now, TikTok Shop is still in the same app with TikTok.

The Director General of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Isy Karim revealed that the payment service for TikTok Shop transactions will completely move to Tokopedia.

Even so, Isy said that the separation of the TikTok Shop system from the TikTok application is backend or behind the scenes. The goal is that users do not feel disturbed by the transition of this system.

"TikTok is actually 90 percent. Now for the separation between TikTok Shop and Tokopedia, payments have gone directly to Tokopedia, not to TikTok anymore," he said at Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Jakarta, Monday, March 4.

For your information, users of the TikTok application can still make TikTok Shop transactions since the merger of the Chinese company's business with e-commerce from Indonesia, Tokopedia.

According to Isy, this is legitimate as long as it is under Tokopedia's responsibility. The reason is, Tokopedia is the one who acts as the e-commerce company.

"It's okay for me, but indeed the backend has been combined and has changed," he explained.

According to him, so far the transition process is only 13 percent left so that the presence of TikTok Shop can again comply with the regulation of Permendag 31/2023 concerning Trade Organizers Through Electronic Systems (PPMSE).

Furthermore, Isy said, the government is still monitoring the remaining transitions to the TikTok Shop system.

"Technology now has to move (applications) again, browse again, right? It's still considered comply (with the rules)," he said.
