Airlangga Reveals The Importance Of International Cooperation In OECD

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto revealed that international cooperation will have an important role, especially if Indonesia is officially accepted as a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Previously, the government had held an Indonesian Accession Discussion with the Head of the OECD Member State Representative at The Langham, Jakarta on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

"International cooperation will play an important role in Indonesia's transition and transformation by providing a comprehensive roadmap for progress as aspired to in Indonesia Gold 2045," he said, Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

In addition, Airlangga said that the Indonesian economy still needs to grow at least 6 percent to 7 percent in the next 20 years to get out of the middle and develop income trap into a high-income country.

Airlangga said Indonesia's medium-term species are increasing international productivity and competitiveness to revitalize Indonesia's economic growth track in order to have a higher GDP for revenue growth and improve growth quality.

According to Airlangga, the launch of the Indonesia OECD Accession Roadmap in the near future will be in line with the national agenda because Indonesia is currently preparing the upcoming government, developing a medium-term development plan for 2025-2029, and completing Indonesia's national long-term development plan 2025-2045.

"We have a unique opportunity to strengthen national policies and planning to increase revenue and well-being on our 17,000 islands and ensure no one is left behind," he said.

Airlangga said Indonesia is strongly committed to deepening integration because connectivity is a fundamental thing for international stability and welfare and to fulfill the aspirations of the increasing community.

"Indonesia's growing international economic priority includes implementing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, advancing cooperation under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, completing the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, and opening accession discussions with CP-TPP," he said.
