JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) cooperates with 15 legal aid institutions (LBH) in various regions to improve assistance and legal assistance services to micro and small business actors (UMK).

These efforts are in accordance with the Job Creation Law and Government Regulation (PP) Number 7 of 2021 concerning Ease, Protection and Empowerment of Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, which mandates the central government and local governments to provide legal assistance and assistance services to UMK players.

"We need to realize that micro and small business actors still have various limitations in their business management. So, they often cause legal problems," said Deputy for Micro Business at the Coordinating Ministry for SMEs Yulius in his official statement, quoted Wednesday, February 28.

Yulius emphasized that the national UMK still dominates the structure of business entities throughout Indonesia.

In addition, said Yulius, his party has also collaborated with various parties, including the Supreme Court (MA), legal aid agencies and law firms in an effort to optimally realize legal assistance and assistance services to micro and small businesses.

In addition to providing assistance and legal assistance services to UMK, this collaboration is expected to encourage partners to provide guidance, literacy and motivation for the development of UMK in their respective working areas.

"So, violations of the law by micro-enterprises can be minimized and legal certainty and protection can be guaranteed," he said.

Furthermore, Yulius emphasized, it is necessary to support good program planning and human resources who have a commitment to taking sides with the empowerment of micro and small businesses to ensure this cooperation can run well.

In supporting the implementation of legal assistance and assistance services, the Kemenkop UKM has also built an application to provide convenience for UMK in submitting applications or complaints while making it easier for parties to monitor service developments.
