JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) continues to optimize Zakat, Infaq, Sedekah, and Waqf (Ziswaf) services through digital channels at BSI Mobile.

SEVP Digital Banking BSI, Saut Parulian Saragih said that people have started to get to know to pay zakat through digital channels.

"Throughout the past year, transactions were dominated by transactions on the BSI Mobile, ATM and QRIS channels. Seeing these developments, the company continues to boost its activation through various features that facilitate people who donate and are ziswaf at BSI Mobile," said Saut Parulian in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 15.

In Ziswaf's program, among others, donations of orphans, disaster donations, humanitarian donations such as Palestine, educational donations, donations for the construction of mosques to donations for Koran teachers.

As for November 2023, transactions related to Ziswaf on the BSI digital banking channel reached Rp. 96.3 billion with a total transaction of 8.5 million transactions.

The company continues to encourage increased activation of Ziswaf transactions through digital banking channels at BSI Mobile, ATM machines and QRIS in mosques, Islamic boarding schools, schools and communities. Gradually, we continue to strengthen Ziswaf as a sharia financial instrument that provides benefits for the community through productive programs that are rolling," he said.

In BSI, support facilitates Ziswaf to be carried out in the form of zakat, infaq, waqf features, and various features of the donation program. These include humanitarian donations, donations of orphans, donations of Hafidz Quran education, food alms programs, mosque building programs on board, natural disaster assistance programs, and so on.

Saut said Ziswaf still has enormous potential in Indonesia. If this potential can be mobilized properly, Ziswaf can become one of the sources of financing funds as well as community development, both in terms of education, social, economy, and others.

He also ensured that the collaboration between BSI and the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) played an important role in Ziswaf's transparent and reliable management.

"Ziswaf is a solution that is expected to encourage people to advance to class, help economically, so that they can eradicate the community from poverty. For banks, there is business potential that can be achieved from the circulation of funds, in addition to the blessings expected from the distribution of zakat," explained Saut.

BSI itself has collaborated with Baznas since 2021. This collaboration provides great benefits for both parties, so that it can help the economic development of the nation and state, especially in poverty alleviation and the welfare of the people.

Currently, BSI has collaborated with more than 18 national zakat institutions to optimize Ziswaf's funds. In early 2024, BSI together with partners of the National Amil Zakat Institute (Laznas) were reviewing the potential market through cooperation for dozens of donation program menus and Ziswaf at BSI Mobile.
