SpaceX Successfully Increases Starlink Constellation Capacity In 2024

JAKARTA Starlink's satellite launch in 2024 is far more than the previous year. Thanks to SpaceX's consistency over the years, Starlink's internet network has grown stronger.

Elon Musk's space company said it had launched 89 Starlink missions throughout 2024. On every mission, SpaceX will fly more than 20 satellites so that the constellation can be upgraded quickly.

By placing thousands of new satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), SpaceX has succeeded in expanding its internet network globally. This makes it easier for SpaceX to reach more remote areas that cannot access the internet.

"With 89 dedicated Starlink launches, we have increased constellation capacity, expanded reach globally, and grown our active customers by 2.6 million + worldwide," SpaceX said on January 1.

According to SpaceX, this achievement is also supported by a record launch of the Falcon 9 rocket in 2024. The company managed to increase the number of Falcon 9 launches and the majority of its launches were dominated by the Starlink satellite.

In line with the massive launch, SpaceX revealed that the Starlink internet network is accelerating. So far, "We can add more than 300 Tbps of capacity to the (Starlink) network."

Starting at the end of last year, SpaceX is actively launching satellites with Direct to Cell capabilities. Whenever the Starlink mission is launched, the company will include a regular Starlink model and Starlink with a modem that can be directly connected to the phone.

In 2025, the number of Starlinks with Direct to Cell capabilities will be increased as SpaceX wants to develop the capabilities of the service. From the beginning, you can only send messages to exchange data in a heavy capacity.
