JAKARTA PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is pursuing the achievement of a national target of 1 million barrels of oil per day (BOPD) in 2030 by making a Mibasa Well in Minas, Siak Regency, temporarily near the Pinang East Well in Teluk Nilap Hamlet, Kubu Babusalam District, Rokan Hilir.
PHR's VP of Driling and Copletions, Andi Solihin explained, the Mibasa Well drilling was carried out after going through a study of oil and gas potential by targeting the target reservoir (oil and gas reserves) in the formation of Basement and Telisa. Where, the basement is a basic rock layer that is not generally the previous drilling target.
"Similarly, the Telisa layer is located on a layer of cover rock or hood (in the term oil). After an in-depth study, these two layers have the potential for oil reserves to be quite large and promising," he said in a statement to the media quoted on Wednesday, January 10.
He continued, this is one of the new methods and technologies carried out by PHR in an effort to increase oil reserves in the mature working area.
The drilling process for Telisa layer is relatively shallow using a rig with a depth of 1,360 ft.
As for the groundment layer, the drilling target is at a depth of 2,958 ft.
"Please pray that the operation will run safely and smoothly so that what is targeted is successful," Andi continued.
He admitted that PHR appreciated the support of stakeholders and levels of society for the smooth running and security of operations and oil and gas exploration in Riau.
Efforts to produce and hunt for new oil reserves continue to be increased by PHR to prevent natural declines in the old field. Since the transfer of management, PHR has drilled more than 1,000 wells in WK Rokan.
"We will continue to improve operations in 2024 in line with the mandate given by the state for us to continue to produce. This year, our average production is at 162 BOPD which places PHR as the number one oil producer in Indonesia," said Andi.
At almost the same time, PHR will also tax Pinang East Well, which is an exploration close to the Pinang field.
The target for the reservoir is Bekasap Sand, which is currently the main reservoir in the Pinang field.
Drilling is carried out vertically with a depth of 3,900 ft, relatively the same as the Pinang field. Pinang wells have a low risk, because geologically and subsurfaces are very similar to the Pinang field.

SKK Migas representative Sumbagut appreciates all stakeholders who have supported the exploration well tax activities at the Rokan WK.
SKK Migas continues to encourage exploration programs in the Rokan WK in an effort to support the achievement of the target of 1 million barrels of oil per day in 2023.
"Next year there are around 570 wells that we will tax. Of course, we really need support from all levels of society and regional apparatus. Hopefully this well tax will succeed in finding large hydrocarbons so that it can encourage increased national production," said SKK Migas Coordinator, Sumbagut Rochaddy Lubis.
