JAKARTA - A total of three Callender Hamilton (CH) bridges in Banten Province, were inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Monday, January 8.
During the inauguration, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan, Acting Governor of Banten Al Muktabar, and Acting Mayor of Tangerang Nurdin.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the replacement/duplicating of the CH bridge through the Government Cooperation with Business Entity (PPP) scheme was an innovation effort to maintain long-term bridge services.
"Not only toll roads and national roads, but bridges also have an important role to serve transportation, goods and human beings. God willing, the results will be very good, very satisfying if the PPP is carried out on time," Basuki said in a written statement, quoted on Tuesday, January 9.
The three bridges that were inaugurated were the 110-meter (m) long Cisadane A and B (m) long and 18-m wide bridges which stretched over the Cisadane River right at the heart of Tangerang City and close to the lifeblood of the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road through the Bitung Toll Gate.
Then, the 120-m long Batu Ceper Bridge located on Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Tangerang City. Jalan Daan Mogot is a national road as well as a vital transportation and logistics route that connects the eastern Banten Province (Kota Tangerang) with the City of Jakarta.
Furthermore, the replacement of the 45-m long Tazing I Bridge in Karang Suraga Village, Cinangka, Serang Regency.
"The presence of the CH bridge, which is located on Jalan Raya Anyer-Sirih, is also expected to increase access to tourism areas located on the West coast of Banten and the Tanjung Lesung National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN)," he added.
