Minister Of Industry Calls RI The 10th Ranking Of The World's Largest Manufacturing Countries

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that Indonesia is ranked 10th as the largest manufacturing country in the world.

Minister of Industry Agus said the position had increased by 6 places since the last five years was ranked 16th.

"There is a report (report) called the Global Guard, which in 2023 Indonesia will be ranked 10th as the largest manufacturing country in the world. This is actually something that can be proud of all of us because five years ago our position in the last 16," Agus said in a year-end media meeting monitored online, Thursday, December 28.

Agus said the report stated that Indonesia had contributed 1.4 percent to global manufacturing products.

He added that the 10th position succeeded in making Indonesia the largest country that contributed the largest global manufacturing in Asia.

It is also what makes Indonesia able to beat other big countries in Asia such as India, South Korea, and even Japan.

"So, (Indonesia) is the largest country and I think it's extraordinary," he said.

Therefore, Agus also denied that Indonesia was not experiencing the current deindustrialization process.

"So, is it true that the person's view that Indonesia is de-dustrializing, 'is it true?' Big questions for me, with statistical data like this Global Guard, right, an institution that is not recruited by the Ministry of Industry. So, right, we can't keep the top 10 (Indonesia), right, can't," he said.

"So, if anyone asks or thinks that Indonesia is de-dustrializing, I think we are all ready for a debate," he added.
