JAKARTA - The Malaysian Intelligent Transport System (ITS) delegation visited the Control Center of PT Roatex Indonesia Toll System to study the implementation of the Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) or toll payments without stopping based on the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).

Indonesia is the first pioneer and country in Southeast Asia to implement GNSS-based MLFF technology.

Director of PT Roatex Indonesia Toll System (RITS) Gyula Orosz said the implementation of MLFF was indeed an important part and step for Indonesia in modernizing reliable high-tech transportation networks.

"As well as providing standards for other countries to revolutionize their toll systems," said Gyula when met at the Sequis Center Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 5.

The visit of the Malaysian ITS delegation is an effort to learn how the MLFF system is implemented in Indonesia. Among other things, by visiting the Control Center which is able to monitor the flow of vehicles on toll roads and ensuring payment transactions that occur using GNSS-based technology.

Gyula said this visit was an important moment, as an acknowledgment of Indonesia's superiority in the field of transportation which was able to provide solutions to the general problems faced.

"Such as traffic jams at toll gates when making payments, so as to create travel time efficiency," he said.

In addition, the Malaysian delegation also held discussions and questions and answered with PT RITS regarding the basis of technology, devices, and how to implement it in Indonesia.

"We hope that ITS Malaysia can obtain information and learn about MLFF technology based on GNSS and can be useful for the development of the transportation system in Malaysia," said Gyula.

The MLFF technology comes from Hungary, which revolutionizes travel using toll roads so that it becomes smoother and more efficient and supports Indonesia entering the Toll Roads Technology 4.0 era.

MLFF in Indonesia has entered the stage of implementation phase and will be tested on the Mandara Bali Toll Road at the end of December 2023.

MLFF itself is the latest technology in the world that processes payments automatically for vehicles passing on toll roads.

Through this technology, toll road users can enter and leave without having to stop to pay.
