The Ministry Of Industry Calls Israel's Product Boycott Invitation Ajang To Strengthen Local Industries

JAKARTA - Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Putu Juli Ardika assessed that the invitation to boycott Israeli products that were widely echoed on social media was a good momentum to strengthen the domestic industry.

Putu said the boycott invitation also helped the government's efforts to tighten imported goods into the country.

"In social media there is an invitation to boycott some products, so hopefully it will be a good momentum for us to strengthen the tightening of the flow of goods because we are still importing several products," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, October 31.

Putu hopes that domestically produced products can be fully utilized by the domestic market.

Calls to support the boycott of Israeli-made products and products that openly support Israel's attacks on Gaza continue to increase on various social media platforms, including in Indonesia.

The boycott is claimed to be one of the supports that can be given by residents who care about the condition of Palestine in addition to donations and prayers.

Indonesia strongly condemns acts of violence in Gaza, which resulted in suffering and the increasing number of civilian casualties, including women and children.

"Indonesia also condemns the Israeli attack on Al-Ahli Hospital (Baptist). This is a clear violation of international humanitarian law," said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a video message.

Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia will not remain silent to see civilian casualties continue to fall and allow injustice to the Palestinian people to continue.
