JAKARTA - The management of the Sultan Hotel opened the impact of land ownership with the government which took place in the past few months. The level of room occupancy or hotel occupancy has fallen, even now only 20 percent remains.

Vice President Operation Hotel Sultan, I Nyoman Sarya said the Sultan Hotel has 705 rooms and 226 apartment units. The number of room occupancy varies every day. However, recently the lowest daily occupancy is 20 percent.

Nyoman said the biggest decrease in occupancy occurred on October 4, 2023, since the massive amount of the Sultan Hotel. Conditions are exacerbated by the closure of access to the Sultan Hotel.

"With the absence of events, there are many cancel events, sometimes (ocupancing) is below 20 percent very different from normal. This news is very disturbing for us, in addition to limited access (roads). So two things that I think end up making the Sultan Hotel in difficult conditions," said Nyoman Sarya when met at the Sultan Hotel, Central Jakarta, Thursday, October 26.

Whereas before there was chaos, said Nyoman, in the August-December period, the minimum daily occupancy was at 50-60 percent.

In fact, continued Nyoman, if there is an event or event from both private companies and the agenda of the Sultan Hotel occupancy government, it can reach around 90 to 100 percent. Moreover, when entering the election year.

"If the usual days are 50-60 percent, even certain days if there are events, they can be full," he explained.

Nyoman said, several canceled events include large agendas from international to domestic. Among them are the International Basketball event and the ASEAN Summit which will be held from September 5 to 7.

In fact, said Nyoman, his party also received cancellations from weddings to room reservations that should have been held at hotels. In fact, bookings for weddings have usually been carried out long ago.

"With various considerations, there is a wedding. We have confirmed it, we are worried that our event will not run well. In the end, there were a lot of refunds because they had already paid the deposit," he said.

Nyoman also said that the impact of the news regarding the chaos of this land dispute made many hotel room reservations canceled. However, he was reluctant to explain the nominal amount of losses suffered.

"This is what has been recorded, not to mention those who haven't book and haven't seen news, it's not booking. We can't measure it. From the range of 1-10 that was blocked, it's definitely above 5," he said.
