Government Tightens Cosmetic Imports To Children's Toys, Minister Teten Says Regulations Will Be Completed In 2 Weeks

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki attended a Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday, October 6.

During the meeting, Teten said, the government immediately implemented a policy of tightening the entry of imported goods, especially for consumer products or goods including the flow of imported goods through online retail cross-border, ordinary imports, and deposit services (jastip).

This follows the issuance of Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023 concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance, and Supervision of Business Actors in Trade Through Electronic Systems (PMSE).

"There are a number of regulations that must be revised in several ministries and must be completed in two weeks," said Teten, quoted from his personal Instagram account, Friday, October 6.

Teten said the regulations that must be resolved include textiles, electronics, cosmetics, footwear, children's toys, health supplements, and traditional medicines.

"Meanwhile, to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic products, there is a restructuring of financing policy for the modernization of machinery," he said.

The purpose of tightening this regulation is to protect domestic products from the invasion of imported goods, both legal and illegal.
