West Java Absorbs 500-550 BBTUD Natural Gas, Andil PGN Gas Subholding Pertamina Meets Energy Needs For Economic Mobilization

JAKARTA - West Java is one of PGN's operating areas with natural gas utilization of 500-550 BBTUD that has been felt by the industrial, commercial and household sectors in the West Java region.

This natural gas utilization also contributes positively in driving the economy which has an impact on the creation of production efficiency in the industrial and commercial sectors as well as saving household spending.

The West Java operating areas in three provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java and Banten Provinces, are managed by PGN Sales Operation & Region II or PGN SOR II, with the coverage of natural gas distribution management to 1,441 industrial commercial sector customers who absorb 324.23 BBTUD and 9 electricity sector corporate customers amounting to 201.25 BBTUD.

Not only that, the distribution of natural gas as good energy was also carried out in the household sector in the amount of 228,036 Home Connections (SR) and 786 small/MSME customers.

The reliability of natural gas distribution in West Java is supported by integrated PGN infrastructure, including gas pipeline infrastructure, FSRU and multi-supply aggregation, both pipeline gas and LNG gas. This provides reliable gas distribution to customers," explained General Manager of SOR II Sonny Rahmawan Abdi, in his statement, Tuesday, July 11.

In West Java, starting from Banten to West Java, it stretches a 3,223 km long pipe which is divided into 1,811 km of steel pipe and 1,412 PE pipes, supported by supporting infrastructure, including 351 divisor stations and 3 Offtake stations.

This provides confidence for PGN to penetrate natural gas services to Banten Province, so that it has succeeded in distributing natural gas +/- 166 BBTUD for households, small, commercial, industrial and power plants. This area is managed more specifically by PGN Cilegon Area and Tangerang Area.

The Cilegon area currently serves the largest customer, namely in the industrial sector there are 50 customers with gas absorption of around 99.75 BBTUD. Meanwhile, households are approximately 10,290 customers. There are two areas, namely Cilegon City and Serang Regency," said Sonny.

Then the Tangerang area includes Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency and South Tangerang City. Total gas absorption is 66.1 BBTUD. The Tangerang area serves 30.050 household customers with the use of gas +/- 0.38 BBTUD and 336 commercial/industrial customers with 65.72 BBTUD absorption.

Sonny said that there was a growth trend in natural gas management in the Banten area. For 5 years it grew 2.16 percent in line with economic conditions and an increase in customer acquisitions from the development of natural gas services and infrastructure.

The number of customers in the Banten area has also grown, especially household jargas since 2021. We continue to strive to make the increase even more massive, especially in the Tangerang area," explained Sonny.

PGN continues to support economic activities in West Java, including Banten province through the provision of natural gas energy. This more competitive and environmentally friendly energy can drive customer production and reduce the use of fuel and subsidized tube gas.

In addition, the importance of natural gas during the transition period and efforts to decarbonize as a source of energy that is cleaner than other fossil energy.
