Deputy Minister Of SOEs Tiko Reveals Planned To Revitalize Borobudur Temple

Deputy Minister of SOEs II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo revealed the plan to revitalize the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park complex, Magelang, Central Java, even by cooperating with conservation experts including UNESCO or the UN agency related to education, science and culture.

"We will build a single authority in Borobudur so that later we will make tourism management, commercial and conservation management comprehensive," he said when met in the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park area, Magelang, Central Java, quoted from Antara, Monday 5 June.

According to Tiko, as he is familiarly called, the development of heritage site tourism management (heritage) requires good conservation. His party will sharpen the concept of tourism management that is integrated with the conservation aspect, including related to aspects of its spiritual values.

"Later we will announce how much capacity can be increased to the top and so on. We are discussing and consulting conservation under the Ministry of Education and Culture and also with conservation experts including UNESCO so that later we will start programming so that this is truly a comprehensive tourism but also maintains the integrity of the heritage itself," he said.

Tiko said that his party already had an idea of the plan to revitalize the Buddhist temple complex. The planned revitalization includes structuring the area, relocating MSMEs to MSME centers, as well as travel routes for tourists.

In addition, the Ministry of SOEs also plans to revitalize the area into a spiritual destination, for example for meditation.

"Later on, we hope that the community will not only come up to enjoy the entire area. There are also plans to build a museum in the future," added Tiko.

The former President Director of Bank Mandiri is targeting the concept of revitalizing the Borobudur Temple area to be completed in September or October. He also could not confirm the need and source of the budget to realize the revitalization plan.

"There is from the APBN, (Ministry) PUPR, but maybe later for others it can also be collaborated with the private sector. We are currently conceptualizing it first," he said.

Director of Marketing and Tourism Program of PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or Injourney Maya Watono said that in determining the position of Borobudur Temple in the future, there will be five pillars that will be the main concern.

"So heritage, spirituality, education, consistency and of course economic impact. We put forward the five pillars. In the future, the arrangement will be based on the five pillars," said Maya.

The government wants to make Borobudur Temple one of the world's Buddhist spiritual centers so that the site will become the annual ritual destination for Buddhists.

On the other hand, Borobudur Temple is a symbol of diversity in the midst of pluralism.
