BALIKPAPAN - The State Electricity Company (PLN) of East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan has allocated IDR 369.16 billion to construct electricity infrastructure in underdeveloped, outermost and frontier (3T) areas in North Kalimantan.

"Development funds are sourced from state equity participation funds (PMN) which in 2023 will amount to IDR 10 trillion", said PLN General Manager for East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Joice L Wantania quoted from Antara, Monday, March 6.

Overall, said Wantania, PLN has succeeded in electrification in North Kalimantan Province having reached a PLN village ratio of 71.58 per cent and an electrification ratio of 98.05 per cent.

Last week, PLN added new connections to seven villages included in the 3T category in Bulungan and Tana Tidung Regencies.

"This connection is part of our efforts to achieve a 100 per cent electrification ratio in Kaltara as well as the quality of electricity in the city", he said.

From the seven villages, PLN obtained 770 new customers, of which 282 had electricity connected to their homes.

Another benefit is that 111 village facilities can be used more effectively and efficiently, such as the village office and all the devices within it.

Wantania hopes that the distribution of electricity to villages will further stimulate the economy and move various sectors of people's lives, which can then improve the people's standard of living.

"We hope that electricity will make this year's Ramadan even more special for people who observe fasting and Eid al-Fitr with their families", he concluded.

Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Republic Commission VI, Deddy Yevry Hanteru Sitorus, who was also present at the inauguration said that by the end of 2023, as many as 374 out of 482 in Kaltara had received electricity distribution with various connection schemes.

"I also hope that the connected electricity will be utilized not only for consumptive purposes but also for productive activities to improve the welfare of the village community", said Deddy.

Tana Tidung Regent Ibrahim Ali expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PLN, where there are only two more villages to realize our Tana Tidung Terang program.
