JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that Jakarta's economic growth will grow again in 2024, when the national capital (IKN) officially moves to Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

The projected economic growth in 2024, said Heru, is 6.4 percent, following the forecast for Jakarta's economic slowdown this year with a projected rate of 5-5.8 percent. Meanwhile, Jakarta's economy in 2022 grew by 5.2 percent (c-to-c).

"This achievement in 2022 is certainly good news amid forecasts of an economic slowdown in 2023. Jakarta's economy is also projected to grow 6.4 percent in 2024," said Heru in opening a public consultation forum on the 2024 regional government work plan at the DKI City Hall, Tuesday, February 14th.

Meanwhile, Heru explained that the direction of development for the City of Jakarta is to increase the resilience of the city through strengthening the economy and strengthening the quality of basic services.

"The policy direction is in accordance with the planning in the 2023-2026 Regional Development Plan (RPD) document," said Heru.

Therefore, Heru hopes that the 2024 RKPD consultation can become a forum for all stakeholders to collaborate and provide input on the development of Jakarta.

During the event, Heru advised the heads of regional apparatuses to ensure that the planned regional development programs must be able to spur good-quality growth in the economic, social, and environmental fields.

The program in question includes handling floods, traffic jams, spatial planning, and handling extreme poverty with a target of 0 percent in 2024, as well as a target for the stunting rate to fall below 5 percent.

"Make sure all budget proposals are allocated for regional spending. Not only achieving output, but also having to achieve outcomes and provide benefits to the community at large, as well as adhering to the principles of budget efficiency and effectiveness. Also, formulate activity programs that have the potential to be funded with funding or financing schemes other than the APBD," explained Heru.

"Thus the acceleration of regional development can be accelerated," he added.
