YOGYAKARTA - The Representative Office of Bank Indonesia for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) stated that inflation in this province in September 2022 reached 1.05 percent or the lowest compared to other regions on the island of Java.

"DIY's monthly inflation achievement is lower than other provinces in Java," said Head of the DIY Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office, Budiharto Setyawan, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 3.

He mentioned that DIY's monthly inflation was lower than DKI Jakarta which reached 1.21 percent (mtm), West Java (1.21 percent), Banten (1.12 percent), Central Java (1.19 percent), and East Java ( 1.23 percent).

According to Budiharto, DIY inflation in September 2022 was driven by administered prices and core inflation, while volatile food prices experienced deflation.

Inflation mainly stems from the direct impact of rising vehicle fuel prices.

"On the other hand, horticultural commodities such as shallots, red chilies, and cooking oil continue to deflation, preventing higher inflation," he said.

From the administered price group, according to him, the biggest inflation was due to the increase in the price of subsidized fuel oil (BBM).

Meanwhile, continued Budiharto, the volatile food group in DIY experienced deflation on a monthly basis.

The largest share of inflation came from horticultural commodities, namely shallots and red chilies, each of which contributed -0.04 percent (mtm).

"The price of shallots at the consumer level has decreased in line with the harvest in the central areas supported by conducive weather," said Budiharto.
