YOGYAKARTA — The Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, appreciated the performance of Yogyakarta micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) working in the canning industry. This is because in the midst of a number of limitations as MSME players, they are proven to have succeeded in penetrating the export market.

"We always support our MSME players so that they can go international. Good luck always," said Airlangga, while visiting the Indonesian Archipelago Product Alliance (APNI) food canning factory, PT Kita Satu Rasa (Kisara), on Jalan Sorosutan Yogyakarta, Thursday, March 17.

During his visit this time, Airlangga explained that the products packaged in the canning industry are also the result of the production of MSMEs in Yogyakarta. Until now, these products have managed to penetrate a number of countries, such as to New Zealand and Bangkok, as well as countries in the Middle East.

"What these ladies have done deserves our appreciation. How they can package various products produced on a household scale into high value for export abroad. This is very proud," said Airlangga.

On the same occasion, Airlangga even had the opportunity to directly pack gudeg dishes into packaged cans so that they can be shipped more easily even to the export market.

Airlangga also briefly asked MSME actors about access to credit for business development models. This is because so far the government has provided a People's Business Credit (KUR) facility with an interest rate of only three percent, because it is subsidized by the government until December 2022.

"We must be able to ensure that MSME players can find it easy to develop their business to penetrate the export market. There should be no more obstacles regarding (lack of) capital and so on. The government must have full support," said Airlangga.
