Ahead Of New Year 2022, Passengers At Bali's I Ngurah Rai Airport Increase: Around 10 Thousand Per Day

JAKARTA - The flow of domestic passenger arrivals at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is starting to increase towards the turn of 2022. However, the number is still up and down, even though the number is in the range of 10 thousand people per day.

Stakeholder Relations Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai, Taufan Yudhistira, said the number of passengers landing at the International Airport has increased.

"It's true (there is an increase). Compared to November, December went up. However, compared to week by week, before Christmas tends to be sloping compared to the previous week. On December 26, 10,914 people came to Bali", he said when contacted by VOI on Monday, 27 December.

Meanwhile, on December 25, at Christmas, the number of domestic passenger arrivals in Bali was only 9,076. However, on December 24, it was recorded that 11,059 people came to Bali. This figure is down when compared to December 23, which recorded 11,440 people.

Previously reported, PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) or AP I recorded an increase in passenger trends from October to December at this time. In fact, it is projected that the increase in passengers will reach 130 thousand per day during December.

AP I President Director, Faik Fahmi, said that the average passenger per day was around 230 thousand people in normal conditions before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this number had dropped to 20,000 to 30,000 per day during the peak of COVID-19 cases.

However, Faik said that currently, his condition has started to improve along with the massive vaccination carried out by the government. He said, until December 7, the average daily passenger at the airport managed by Angkasa Pura I had reached 118 thousand people per day.

"If we look at the statistical data in October, the average passenger per day for Angkasa Pura I from 15 airports is around 95 passengers per day. Then it rises again in November to around 111 thousand per day. On the 7th, the average per day is 118,000", he said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, December 8.

Seeing the increasing traffic, Faik projects that in December the average number of passengers will reach around 130 per day.

"We have an internal calculation, we will reach the break-even at 135 thousand passengers per day. So if I project that in January-December it can be 130 thousand, then the number to reach the high level in AP I only needs about 5,000 passengers per day", he said.
