JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir held a meeting with former British Prime Minister (PM) Tony Blair. The meeting discussed several potential cooperations that could be developed in Indonesia.

But unfortunately, Erick did not explain in more detail the potential for the cooperation to be developed. He only emphasized that the cooperation must bring benefits to Indonesia.

"In the name of God... hopefully, what we discussed can bring new enthusiasm and greater benefits to Indonesia," Erick wrote, quoted from his Instagram @erickthohir, Monday, November 22.

Erick's meeting with Tony Blair is not the first. In early 2020, Erick Thohir met Tony Blair on his second official trip to Japan. On that occasion, Erick also met the COE of Softbank, Masayoshi Son.

Erick said that the meeting was a valuable speed. During the meeting, he also briefly discussed the plan to build a new state capital in East Kalimantan.

"I had the valuable opportunity to discuss plans to build the nation's capital with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son," Erick wrote.

Meanwhile, some time ago, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan also met with Tony Blair who is also the Executive Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change in London on Wednesday night, October 27, 2021.

In the meeting, they discussed various issues, especially Indonesia's contribution to addressing climate change which will be raised at the international conference on climate change or the Conference of the Parties (COP26).

Luhut emphasized the focus of the Indonesian government on natural wealth management. He said Indonesia will balance between conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and the environment to contribute to climate recovery efforts and for future generations of Indonesia and the world.
