Gerindra Removes Mirwan From The Position Of Chairman Of The DPC After The Umrah Polemic During The Flood

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party's Central Executive Board (DPP) officially removed Mirwan MS from the position of Chairman of the Gerindra South Aceh DPC. The decision was taken following the polemic of Mirwan's departure to the Holy Land when his area was still affected by the flood.

Secretary General of Gerindra, Sugiono, said the decision was made after the party received a complete report on the situation in South Aceh and Mirwan's attitude as regional head.

"After examining the incoming reports, we decided to dismiss the person concerned from the position of Chairman of the South Aceh Gerindra DPC," he said in a confirmed statement in Jakarta.

Sugiono added that Mirwan's actions were considered not in line with the leadership values expected by the party, although he did not specify when the decision would be implemented.

The polemic began after flash floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Instead of leading the emergency handling in his area, Mirwan actually left for Umrah with his wife on December 2, 2025. The trip was carried out even though the emergency response status was still in effect and the Governor of Aceh, Muzakir Manaf, had rejected the request for an overseas travel permit he submitted.
