Police Say Stepfather Alvaro Hanged Himself In The Concelling Room After Becoming A Suspect

JAKARTA - The police revealed the cause of death of Alex Iskandar, Alvaro Kiano Nugroho's stepfather (6), who reportedly hanged himself in the counseling room of the South Jakarta Metro Police (Jaksel).

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, explained that Alex's death occurred during the examination process which took place on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in the early hours of the morning.

After undergoing the initial examination, said Kombes Budi, Alex was then placed in the counseling room for a while.

"During the examination process which lasted until early Sunday, the person concerned (Alex) was placed in the counseling room. The suspect ended his life by hanging himself in the room," he told the media at the South Jakarta Metro Police.

Budi explained that Alex was placed in the counseling room, not in a detention cell with other suspects, related to health examination procedures for new suspects.

"Why in the counseling room? Because the status in question is already a suspect. The next morning a medical examination will be carried out to determine whether the suspect has a congenital disease or an infectious disease, so he cannot be combined with other prisoners," he added.

Alex became a suspect in the alleged kidnapping of Alvaro, who was previously reported missing since March 2025.

Then, Alvaro was found dead in the Tenjo area, Bogor, not far from Alex's family home. Alvaro's body is said to be wrapped in plastic.

When found, local residents felt an unpleasant odor. Initially, residents suspected that there was an animal carcass. However, after checking, it was discovered that the body was Alvaro.
