JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed the contents of the BPI Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO) meeting, Doni Oskara, who met him at DKI Jakarta City Hall.

Pramono explained that Danantara together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government were compiling the first steps to start major renovations in the area.

"Earlier I received Pak Doni and also the ranks. They together with the DKI Jakarta Government to immediately start renovating for the Old City," Pramono said when met in Tebet, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.

According to Pramono, the meeting was the first step in structuring a historic area projected to be one of the transportation nodes and public activities in the capital city.

Pramono explained that the mapping of the arrangement of Kota Tua is now being carried out together with cross-institutions. He said the central government, BUMN, and DKI Provincial Government would be in one working group so that planning and development could run simultaneously.

"We are formulating a ROadmap for Kota Tua together. Later there will be a joint task force between the central government, BUMN, and the Jakarta government to immediately make improvements in Kota Tua," he said.

The plan to revitalize Kota Tua, continued Pramono, was carried out in conjunction with the construction of MRT Jakarta phase 2A from the HI Roundabout to Kota Tua which is targeted for completion in 2029.

That way, in the future the area can be comprehensively organized and provide benefits for residents and tourists.

"And hopefully with Monas it will be finished operating (STation) the MRT in 2027, then Kota Tua 2029, the plan to improve the Old Town can be done from now on. With the hope that Kota Tua can really be repaired later and hopefully, as we hope, will become a new TOD for Jakarta," explained Pramono.

Previously, Pramon met with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to discuss the DKI Provincial Government's plan to revitalize the Kota Tua area. To Airlangga, Pramono asked BPI Danantara to assist in the arrangement of the area.

Pramono assessed that Danantara needed to be involved in the Old Town structuring project. Given, many assets belonging to state-owned enterprises (BUMN) are located in this historical area.

"So there (the Old City) there are assets owned by the central government, especially by the central SOEs. So everything related is of course the togetherness between the Danantara and the DKI Government will be very significant because most of the assets are owned by the central government, especially SOEs," said Pramono at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Office, Monday, November 10.
