Using An Evidence Motorbike, 2 Kendari Police Personnel Examined By Propam

JAKARTA - A total of two personnel from the Kendari City Resort Police (Polresta) in Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) were secured by the Professional and Security Section (Si Propam) after being caught using a motorcycle which is evidence of a criminal case.

Head of the Provos Propam Provos Unit (Kanit) of the Kendari Police, Ipda Fadly, said the two personnel had the initials Brigadier AF, who served in the Traffic Unit and Bripda IGA in the Samapta Unit of the Kendari Police.

"The two personnel were found using motorbikes with evidence of confiscated cases of sharp weapons (sajam) for personal interests for nine months, starting in 2024," said Fadly when met in Kendari, Friday, as quoted by Antara.

He said that currently the two personnel process had been transferred to the Provos Unit after undergoing examination at Internal Security (Paminal) for 14 days.

"We have secured the two individuals for the handling process. Internal security for 14 days has been completed, then followed by an examination by the Sipropam Provos Unit," he said.

Fadly said that the violations of the two began when the motorbike was secured after the raid because the driver was carrying a sharp weapon.

Brigadier AF is said to have secured the vehicle in Barak Dalmas without administrative procedures for confiscation of evidence. Furthermore, Bripda IGA, who is one of the alleged violators, took the item without the knowledge of the leadership and used it for personal gain, even the motorbike was stored in his house.

"According to the confession concerned during interrogation, the motorbike has been in use for nine months, starting from 2024," said Fadly.

For their actions, the two Kendari Police personnel were suspected of violating the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2003 concerning the Disciplinary Regulation of Police Members, namely Article 6 letter I, which strictly prohibits the use of evidence for personal gain.

Fadly added that the threat of sanctions waiting for these two individuals varied, ranging from written warnings, postponement of promotions or periodic salaries, demotion mutations, to placement in special places (patsus).

Currently, Propam is trying to summon the owner of the vehicle with the status of a victim to be questioned as part of the filing process.
