Alliance Report To Bareskrim About Ribka Tjiptaning, Accepted As Public Complaint

JAKARTA - The report made by the Anti-Hoax People's Alliance (ARAH) regarding the words of PDIP politician Ribka Tjiptaning who called Suharto "the Killer of Millions of People" was received by Bareskrim Polri as a public complaint (dumas).

"From the police, our report was well received. Indeed, there are several procedural stages such as counseling and so on. So the status is a public complaint," said ARAH Representative, Muhamad Iqbal to reporters, at the Police Criminal Investigation Building, South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Iqbal emphasized that this report was not carried out on behalf of the Suharto family, but as a form of public concern for statements that were considered misleading.

"We came here on behalf of the community, not Suharto's family. We just feel that Mrs. Ribka's statement is very misleading because it is not based on facts," he explained.

According to Iqbal, in the report, his party also submitted a number of screenshots containing Ribka Tjiptaning's statement as preliminary evidence.

"We have attached several evidence documents in the form of screenshots from Mrs. Ribka's statement. We recorded the seconds of her statement, in which she mentioned that Suharto killed millions of people. We made that evidence," said Iqbal.

When asked whether his party would ask for legal standing from Suharto's family, Iqbal emphasized that their focus was only on the legal process being taken.

"What is certain is that after submitting the report to Bareskrim, we will continue to follow up this complaint. Regarding Suharto's family, we did not go there. We focus on public complaints," he said.

Furthermore, regarding the possibility of an apology from Ribka Tjiptaning, Iqbal said it was legal, but the legal process still needed to run.

"If Mrs. Ribka wants to apologize, go ahead. But every statement that is alleged without facts must still be processed according to legal procedures. Moreover, we have complained to the police," he concluded.
