The Ministry Of Hajj And Umrah Will Fill In Employees And Hajj Assets Of The Ministry Of Religion

Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Father Muhammad Syafi i said that all officials or employees of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) and assets related to Hajj are ready to be transferred to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

"The Director General of PHU (Hajj and Umrah Organizing) has all moved to the Ministry of Hajj to the regional offices, all of them have been transferred. Below, there is a pilgrimage, including embarkations. Anyway, this year's employees and assets must completely switch from the Ministry of Religion to the Minister of Hajj," said Father Syafii to reporters at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, confiscated by Antara.

He conveyed this in response to journalists' questions about the development of the transition to the Hajj from the Ministry of Religion to the Ministry of Hajj, after attending a closed meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI.

Father Syafi'i then emphasized that the mandate of the law or revision of the newly passed Hajj Law should not be postponed. Therefore, he said, the institutional transition must proceed immediately, including adjustments to the budget structure.

"The budget structure has also begun to enter," he said.

The Deputy Minister of Religion also explained that at first the escort of the transition process was assigned to him, but was later taken over by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Religion.

"So I don't know exactly where it is, but it must be processed and the implementation of Hajj in 2026 should no longer be carried out by the Ministry of Religion, but by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah," he said.

Previously, the 4th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI During Session I of the 2025-2026 Session Year approved the Draft Law (RUU) on the Third Amendment to Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah into law, which states the establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

"The draft Law on the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah can be approved into law," said Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, who was answered to agree by the members of the DPR who attended.

Then to reporters, Cucun said the Presidential Decree (Keppres) on the Establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as well as the Appointment of the Minister of Hajj and Umrah will soon be issued.
