JAKARTA - The Mataram City Government (Pemkot Mataram) stated that a proposed budget of IDR 145 billion for abrasion management at four locations in the city has been entered into the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) database.
"Thank God, our proposal was received positively and has been entered into Bappenas' data," said Lale Widiahning, Head of the Mataram City Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Agency, in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday, July 23, as reported by Antara.
He stated that the four proposed abrasion-prone locations are Bintaro Beach, Pondok Prasi Beach, Mapak Beach, and Tanjung Karang Beach.
According to the Mataram City PUPR Agency, these four locations are categorized as urgently requiring the construction of riprap, or large rock formations, to protect the coast from erosion, with a budget requirement of Rp 145 billion.
"We proposed all four locations, but if we were only allocated two, that's no problem," he said.

Lale said the central government would determine which locations would be worked on first, as the Mataram City Government had already determined the design for the four abrasion-prone areas.
He believes the four locations urgently need to be rehabilitated, as every tidal wave is feared to hit residents' homes.
"Actually, all of these locations are urgent. However, we will review the government's budgetary capacity to provide assistance," he said.
He said the four proposed locations have varying lengths, so the budget requirements will also vary: some are 100 meters, 200 meters, and some are longer.
The proposal for abrasion management has been submitted so frequently, almost every year, that it's always adjusted to the unit price.
"It's unusual that this year we received an immediate response, and hopefully, it can be realized, even though our proposal was submitted online. If it's already been entered into the Bappenas database, that's a good sign," he said.
