The Terror Of The Pig's Head To The Tempo Office, LBH Justice: A Threat To Press Freedom

JAKARTA - The Tempo office received a pig's head shipment on Wednesday 19 March. The pig's head was wrapped in cardboard boxes covered in Styrofoam and addressed to Cica, Francisca Christy Rosana's nickname, a political desk journalist and broadcast host of Bocor Alus Politics. The Legal Aid Institute (LBH Keadilan) strongly condemns this pig's head terror act.

The package containing the pig's head was first received by the Tempo security unit at around 16.15 WIB, but only reached Cica's hand on Thursday, March 20, at 15.00 WIB.

LBH Justice also strongly condemned the act of pig head terror at the Tempo office. According to them, sending a pig head is a form of intimidation aimed at silencing press freedom and threatening the safety of journalists.

"We strongly condemn this pig's head terror act. The delivery of the pig's head is a very offensive symbol of intimidation and aims to scare journalists, especially in Tempo, as well as other journalists in general," said LBH Justice Management Chairman Abdul Hamim Jauzie in his statement.

Hamim emphasized that freedom of the press is the main pillar of democracy. The terror of the head of a pig like this is not only a threat to journalists, but also has the potential to undermine press freedom guaranteed by law.

LBH Justice urges the police to immediately investigate this case thoroughly and arrest the perpetrators of the pig head terror. They also invited all elements of society to unite against all forms of intimidation against journalists and the mass media.

"We invite the entire community to support press freedom and protect journalists from all forms of threats and intimidation," Hamim added regarding the terror of the pig head to the Tempo office.
