The Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs Of The Republic Of Indonesia Ensures That Efficiency Has No Impact On The Role And Efforts To Protect Indonesian Citizens

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Arrmanatha Ch. Nasir said that the budget efficiency carried out by ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, would not affect the function of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"What we need to underline is that budget efficiency is not aimed at reducing or limiting the function of our duties (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia)," he explained in his presentation on the service and protection achievements of Indonesian citizens abroad throughout 2024 at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday, February 13.

He further explained that efficiency was seen as an opportunity to improve performance in various tasks, including in handling cases or protecting Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad.

It is known, President Prabowo Subianto in Presidential Instruction No.1 of 2025 which was issued on January 22 ordered budget efficiency of IDR 306.69 trillion in the 2025 State Budget.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Arrmanatha, who is familiarly called Pak Tata, explained that the budget was prepared by looking at the trend of cases or events. Reflecting on the experience, he said there was an additional budget if there was a need to carry out a larger evacuation.

"This has happened in previous years. For example, there are cases of conflict. Our budget is not enough, an additional budget is given to solve it," he said.

"It doesn't mean that our budget efficiency will reduce the target or reduce the handling of cases. But still do our best and provide the best possible support," he concluded.
