6 Couriers Of 45 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine Demanded The Death Penalty At The Medan District Court

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Sumut) demanded the death penalty for six defendants in the case of being couriers of 45 kilograms of methamphetamine.

"Demanding the defendants Nur Fadli, M. Rahmad, Safrizal, Mahadir Muhammad, Tgk Mansur and Nasrun (each file separate from the death penalty," said North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Febrina Sebayang at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 5.

Febrina said from the facts of the trial the defendants had fulfilled the criminal element in Article 114 (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 (1) 1st KHUPidana, as the primary indictment.

Namely, according to him, the defendant committed or participated without the right to become an intermediary in the sale and purchase or courier of narcotics class I type 45 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Febrina stated that the actions of the defendants did not support the government's program in eradicating drugs.

"In addition, it is troubling the community, as well as the defendants Nur Fadli and Nasrun who have been convicted, there are no mitigating factors for the defendants," he said.

After reading the memorandum of demand from the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, the panel of judges chaired by Erianto Siagian continued the trial with a memorandum of defense next week.

Previously in the indictment, Febrina said that on September 21, 2023, personnel from the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate arrested Luthfi (separate files) at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang.

"From the results of the interrogation of the evidence from Aris (investigation), then the personnel carried out the development that Aris was in Langsa City, Aceh," he said.

Furthermore, said Febrina, on October 3, 2023, the police officer carried out a raid on a car with the arrests of Safrizal and Muhammad.

Then an interrogation was carried out on Safrizal, and the results of the interrogation from Safrizal the goods would be delivered to M. Rahmad who had been waiting on the Medan-Banda Aceh road, East Peureulak District, East Aceh Regency.

In short, officers arrested M. Rahmad and Tgk Mansur, Mahadir Muhammad and Nur Fadli.

Furthermore, the evidence of 45 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine will be delivered by Nur Fadli and other defendants to Lampung with a salary of Rp. 200 million which Nasrun ordered at the detention center in North Sumatra.
