BENGKULU - The Department of Livestock and Animal Health of Bengkulu Province stated that currently, Bengkulu Province is in an emergency status to face an outbreak of Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD).

"We have issued a status that Bengkulu Province has entered the Emergency category for the FMD outbreak", said Syarkawi when met at the Bengkulu Province Animal Husbandry and Health Office, Antara, Friday, August 5.

The emergency status of the FMD outbreak was due to the increase in the number of livestock in Bengkulu Province. The spread of animals infected with the FMD outbreak in Bengkulu Province is in nine regions, namely Kepahiang Regency, Rejang Lebong Regency, North Bengkulu Regency, and Central Bengkulu Regency.

Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu City, Seluma Regency, South Bengkulu Regency, and Kaur Regency, while there is only one area where the FMD outbreak has not been found, namely Lebong Regency.

With this status, his party continues to carry out intensive movements in dealing with the FMD outbreak in Bengkulu Province, such as vaccinating and treating animals that have been infected.

"With the determination of the emergency status, we are more intensive in carrying out vaccinations and treatment", he said.

Syarkawi continued, that to support the acceleration of PMK vaccination in Bengkulu Province, his party added more teams to accelerate vaccination.
