The Reference Price For Corn Purchase Increases To IDR 5,000 Per Kg

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has set the Corn Purchase Reference Price (HAP) with a water level of 15 percent from the previous Rp4,200 per kilogram, up to Rp5,000 per kilogram.

Assistant II for Economics and Development of the Regional Secretariat of the NTB Provincial Government (Pemprov), Fathul Gani, was contacted from Mataram, Friday, confirming that the central government through Bapanas had adjusted the corn HAP.

"We should be grateful and appreciate the approval of the proposal from the regions by Bapanas regarding the change in the corn HAP which was originally Rp4,200 to Rp5,000," he quoted Antara as saying.

In a copy of the letter received, the decision of HAP corn was signed by the Head of Badanas Arief Prasetyo Adi dated April 25, 2024. Through Decree (SK) Number 136/TS.02.02/K/4/2024 concerning HAP flexibility at the producer level and the reference selling price at the consumer level of corn commodities.

The decision to increase the corn HAP is based on proposals from corn business actors and changes in the structure of corn farming business costs, including an increase in production input.

Following up on that, Badanas then held a coordination meeting on the revision of the corn HAP on April 22, 2024 and a coordination meeting on the revision of the HAP for corn commodities, chicken meat and broiler eggs on April 24, 2024.

Then in order to maintain supply stabilization and dry flat corn prices at the producer and consumer/cultivator level, HAP is needed at the producer and HAP level at the consumer level of corn commodities, as stipulated in the Bapanas Regulation Number 5 of 2022 concerning HAP at the producer and consumer levels of corn commodities, chicken eggs and broiler meat.

With details of the latest flexibility HAP, dry flat corn at the producer and consumer levels with water levels of 15 percent from the previous price of Rp4,200 per kilogram rose to Rp5,000 per kilogram.

Furthermore, corn with water levels of 20 percent from Rp. 3,970 per kilogram rose to Rp. 4,725 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, corn with water levels of 25 percent from the previous Rp3,750 per kilogram rose to Rp4,450 per kilogram. Then corn with water levels 30 percent from the previous Rp3,540 per kilogram rose to Rp4,200 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, dry flat corn from the consumer or farmer level with a water level of 15 percent from the previous Rp5,000 per kilogram rose to Rp5,800 per kilogram.

The flexibility of corn HAP at the producer and corn HAP levels will take effect from April 25, 2024 to May 31.

Previously, the Government of Bima Regency and the Government of Dompu Regency, NTB Province proposed adjustments to HAP for corn commodities with water levels of 15 percent to Rp5,000 per kilogram to the central government through Badanas.

"We propose to Badanas, represented by the Director of Stabilization and Supply of Food Prices, to immediately adjust the price of corn to Rp. 5,000 per kilogram," said the Acting Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bima Regency, Suwandi.

He said the proposed adjustment to the price of corn was in accordance with the letter from the Regent of Bima, Indah Dhamayanti Putri, on April 16, 2024, regarding the Application for Price Handling and Corn Absorption in Bima Regency. This application was made in response to the drop in corn prices in the area.

"In addition, asking Bulog Bima to absorb farmers' corn in Bima Regency. Even the Bima Regency Government sent a team to monitor the absorption and level of corn water for farmers following the drop in corn prices," he said.
