JAKARTA - The leadership of Commission VI of the DPR responded to the presence of a snack with an illustration of President Joko Widodo's son, Kaesang Pangarep, in a food package on a Garuda Indonesia plane. The snack wrap suddenly became a public conversation.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Martin Manurung, believes that the issue of food packaging does not need to be exaggerated. According to him, it does not matter if the procurement is according to the rules.

"It's just a trade matter, why make it big. As long as the procurement is according to the rules, there's actually nothing wrong with that," Martin Manurung told reporters, Monday, January 17.

Even so, the NasDem politician said, this snack with the illustration of Kaesang is an input for Garuda Indonesia in the future.

"Social media, go ahead, it's part of the public's input to Garuda. It means, many people love Garuda," said Martin.

The rest, continued Martin, Commission VI of the DPR is more focused on overseeing the restructuring of Garuda. "Commission VI of the DPR wants Garuda Indonesia to continue to exist in Indonesia," he said.

Previously, an illustration of Kaesang Pangarep was found on the snacks in the Garuda Indonesia flight food package. Because it made a scene, the snack was finally withdrawn.

PT Jaya Swarasa Agung Tbk or Tays Bakers (TAYS) gave an explanation regarding the Kaesang picture snack in a written statement, Monday, January 17.

TAYS is known to have just launched a new packaging for its TRICKS snack product which features an illustration of Kaesang Pangarep's face as part of a co-branding partnership with PT. The Hope of Our Nation (GK Hebat).

"This new packaging is intended to introduce Tays Bakers in the retail market, considering the figure of Kaesang Pangarep who is close to Indonesian MSMEs," said CEO of Tays Bakers, Alexander Anwar.

Alexander said that Tays Bakers had previously collaborated with PT Aerofood Indonesia (Aerofood ACS) for the past year. Tays Bakers provides TRICKS products to Aerofood ACS for distribution purposes in various airlines that use Aerofood ACS services.

As for distribution on airlines, TRICKS products will now be used in standard packaging without an endorser illustration.

"We will exchange all TRICKS products on Aerofood ACS with standard packaging," said Alex.
