JAKARTA - The death toll from rain and flooding in Kenya increased by 66 within 24 hours, bringing the total to 169 people since March 1 and 91 people still missing, according to a number of officials on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Kenyan government spokesman Isaac Mwaura told a news conference that 45 of the 66 deaths recorded on Tuesday were due to landslides.

"In the last 24 hours, we have lost 66 people across the country, consisting of 60 adults and 6 children," Isaac said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, Meri.

The flood also caused 190,942 people to flee, and the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi, became the worst-hit area to be displaced, he said.
