Kemendikbudristek : 75 Percent Of UKT Assistance Recipients Are Private Campus Students

JAKARTA - Acting Director-General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) Prof. Nizam said 75 percent of recipients of single tuition assistance (UKT) are private university students (PTS).

"The UKT assistance is distributed to State University (PTN) and Private University (PTS) students. In practice, about 75 percent of the recipients are private university students," Nizam said in a webinar monitored in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, August 27.

He added that the government would again provide quota and UKT assistance. For quota assistance, the government will provide five million students.

"Although the quota assistance is quite heavy, the government is trying to return to providing this quota assistance," explained Nizam.

The Ministry of Education and Culture disbursed funds of Rp2 trillion for 419,606 state and private universities students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the Ministry of Education and Culture will distribute Rp745 billion for students affected by COVID-19.

The assistance is given according to the UKT amount, a maximum of Rp2.4 million. If the UKT is greater than Rp2.4 million, the difference in UKT will be the university's policy according to the student's condition.

UKT assistance targets, namely students who are actively studying and are not recipients of KIP Tuition, Bidikmisi assistance, and whose financial condition requires UKT assistance in the odd semester of 2021.

The mechanism for collecting data on UKT aid recipients, namely students who need UKT assistance register themselves with the university leadership and university leaders submit the UKT assistance recipients to the Ministry of Education and Culture. The UKT assistance will be channeled directly to their respective universities.

The Ministry of Education and Culture will also distribute Rp2.3 trillion for continued internet data quota assistance for 26.8 million students, students, teachers, and lecturers from September to November 2021.

The amount of assistance provided, namely PAUD students of 7 GB per month, students of primary and secondary education levels 10 GB per month, PAUD educators, elementary and secondary education 12 GB per month, and students and lecturers 15 GB per month.

For the use of assistance in 2021, this is a general quota that can be used to access all pages and applications, except those that are blocked by the Ministry of Communication and Information and those listed on the official website for the Ministry of Education and Culture's internet data quota assistance.
