The National Police Chief Orders The Regional Police For Contingency Operations

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered all his staff to continue holding contingency operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The operation, codenamed Aman Nusa II, was originally scheduled for July 3 and will end on August 3 at 00.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

"In the Telegram Letter (ST) of the National Police Chief that for the implementation of the Safe Nusa II Contingency Operation within the scope of the Police Headquarters or the operations carried out by the National Task Force (Satgasnus), it will still be carried out independently with an adjusted number of personnel", said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Monday, August 2.

"For Regional Police who held it, at 00.00 a.m. WIB, it was declared complete and continued with the implementation of Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD)", he continued.

With contingency operations, Ramadhan continued, the Police will continue to carry out activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is also done to wait for the attitude or further action from the Central Government.

"This means that the Police will remain consistent in maintaining, in order to prevent and handle COVID-19", he said.

On the other hand, Ramadhan also conveyed the results of the prosecution during the Safe Operation Nusa II. Several regional police officers have uncovered cases of document falsification and hoarding of drugs.

One example, 33 cases revealed by the Criminal Investigation Police. Of the dozens of cases, at least 37 suspects were identified.

"National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) has taken action on eight cases with 19 suspects. Five cases with 10 suspects are handled by the Directorate of Extraordinary Crimes, and three cases with three suspects are handled by the Directorate of Drug Crimes", said Ramadhan.
