Archaeologists Confused To Find Skulls Similar To Alien Viral On Social Media

JAKARTA - Archaeologists are confused by the findings of a skull that is claimed to be an alien. The photo of the skull was uploaded to Facebook and went viral, the discovery was located in Peru.

Citing the Futurism page, professor of anthropology from the University of Wyoming Melissa Murphy denied this. Murphy confirmed that the skull was almost that of an ordinary human.

"The eye sockets are normal and perfect within the range of human variation and look like the eye sockets of other human skulls from Peru," said Murphy.

At first glance, this skull looks unusual. The YouTube video uploaded to the Facebook post also shows several skulls with elongated crown bones, reminiscent of aliens in pop culture depictions.

Murphy explained, the ancient people of the Peruvian region had a long history of using head binding techniques. This culture shapes human skulls into unusual shapes.

"Intentional head shaping is a form of body culture modification that marks different things, such as a person's identity, rites of passage or work," explains Murphy.

However, that does not mean the skull findings are not important. Because scientists and archaeologists plan to study the skull, which is now stored in the National Museum of Archeology, Anthropology, and History of Peru.
