Sad News From West Papua, Patients Died From COVID-19 Reached 165 People

JAKARTA - COVID-19 Task Force of West Papua Province has reported COVID-19 deaths in the province in the past four days.

The daily report of the provincial COVID-19 task force said cases of patients dying in a row occurred since Friday, Saturday, Sunday, until Monday, also increased by two people.

West Papua COVID-19 Task Force Spokesman dr Arnold Tiniap, in Manokwari on Monday, said that today two more patients died as a result of COVID-19 from Sorong and Maybrat districts.

"Cases of death due to COVID-19 in this province have been 165 people or about 1.8 percent of the 9,249 total positive cases to date," said Tiniap as reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 25.

He also reported that there are an additional 17 patients recovering from COVID-19 from Sorong City 13 patients, Manokwari 3 patients, and South Sorong 2 patients.

"For cured patients, there are an additional 17 people today, so the total cured in West Papua Province as many as 8,977 patients or about 97.1 percent," said Tiniap again.

Separately, West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan on an occasion in Manokwari urged the people of the region to continue to raise awareness of the transmission of COVID-19.

"Coronavirus is around us, never get bored to implement health protocols," said the Governor.
