TNI Soldiers Attacked, Papua Police Send 2 Mobile Brigade Platoons To Dekai And Oksibil

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief, Gen. Insp. Mathius D. Fakhiri said it sent two mobile brigade platoons to Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, and Oksibil, Gunung Bintang Regency.

Gen. Insp. Fakhiri said the mobile brigade personnel sent were to strengthen the police members in the region. The addition of mobile brigade personnel to Dekai and Oksibil related to incidents of persecution and seizure of firearms as well as shootouts with armed criminal groups (KKB) that left two soldiers dead and four wounded.

"Security forces will attempt to arrest the perpetrators of the attack that left two soldiers from Yonif Linud 432 Kostrad dead," Gen. Insp. Fakhiri said as quoted by Antara on Thursday, May 20.

The Papua Police Chief asked members of the TNI and Police who served in vulnerable areas to be vigilant because the KKB was targeting firearms and ammunition carried.

"Do not let us become a supplier of firearms and ammunition for KKB," said Gen. Insp. Fakhiri.

Two TNI members from Yonif Linud 432 Kostrad, Monday, May 17, died after being attacked by unknown people (OTK) in Dekai namely Second Soldier Yudi and Soldier Chief Alif, while four personnel from Yonif 310/KK and Yonif 403/WP were wounded in the leg during gunfire contact with KKB in Serambakon, Gunung Bintang Regency.

The four injured members were Sergeant Chief Dian Hardiana and Soldier Chief Kuku Ismail from Yonif 310/KK, and Second Sergeant Sukrisdianto and First Soldier Romi from Yonif 403/WP.
