Eldest Son Shah Rukh Khan Debuts Director Through Netflix Comedy Series
JAKARTA - The eldest son of the Bollywood artist couple, Shah Rukh Khan andria Khan, Aryan Khan, will launch his first work as director through the Netflix original series The Ba**ds of Bollywood* which is scheduled to air in 2025.
According to a report from the Hindustan Times, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed in an interview on his YouTube podcast totaling Kamal that the series is a dark comedy that depicts the world behind the screen of the Bollywood film industry.
The story raised depicts a unique side and is often hidden from the internal dynamics of the Indian entertainment world.
Sarandos, who had watched the first two episodes, said Aryan's work was 'amat entertaining' and judged Aryan to have great potential as a director. "The first two episodes were very funny. The world is not widely known by global audiences, and Aryan has captured him intelligently. He shows extraordinary talent in directing," he said.
The Ba**ds of Bollywood* series was first announced at the Next on Netflix event in Mumbai in early 2025. Shah Rukh Khan participated in the promotion of the event and fully supported the launch of his son's debut.

The actor, nicknamed 'King of Bollywood', also shared the story behind his son's career. Aryan is known to have studied production and directing at the University of Southern California (USC), USA. Shah Rukh revealed that if the COVID-19 pandemic does not happen, maybe he will meet Ted Sarandos and Netflix Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, in person to help open up opportunities for Aryan in the industry.
"However, due to the pandemic, Aryan returned to India early, and that's where this project began. A coincidence moment that brought blessings," said Shah Rukh.
Aryan Khan is the eldest of three children. He has a younger sister, Suhana Khan, and his younger brother, AbRam Khan, who also grew up in the spotlight of India's entertainment world.
