Waiting For Political Momentum, Jokowi Is Predicted To Reshuffle Cabinet

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Political Opinion (IPO) Dedi Kurnia Syah predicts that President Joko Widodo will again hold a cabinet reshuffle after inaugurating a 'new' minister yesterday.

This inauguration, according to him, will not affect the reshuffle plan that has been discussed. "It just hasn't found the political momentum yet," said Dedi, Thursday, April 29.

He assessed that the inauguration of the minister yesterday was due to the nomenclature of the Ministry of Investment and Ministry of Education and Culture of Research and Technology did not change the personnel who filled the institution.

"With that condition, the next reshuffle is still in the plan, especially some ministries are still not working well, such as the food import polemic," he said.

It is known that the President has appointed the Minister of Education and Culture, Technology Research (Mendikbud-Ristek), Nadiem Makarim; The Minister of Investment, Bahlil Lahadalia; and the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Laksana Tri Handoko.

Previously, PDIP politician Darmadi Durianto assessed that instead of the reshuffle being carried out twice it is better just to be effective. This is because, according to the news, President Jokowi only announced two ministers this afternoon and the rest of the ministers will be reshuffled after the Idul Fitri holiday.

"Because this is the fasting period of Eid, preparations for Eid. This must be effective so that the goods do not increase and the distribution runs smoothly. So it is better to postpone it, but it depends on how the president sees it," Darmadi said.

"But yes, it means that twice the people's energy is focused there (reshuffle, red). What is important is how the people's energy is focused, how to handle the pandemic, it is feared that the ministers are afraid to have their thoughts reshuffled or not," he added.
