BMKG Asks NTT Residents To Beware Of Strong Winds Due To Tropical Cyclone Zelia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to be aware of the impact of Tropical Cyclone Zelia in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region.

"The impact of Tropical Cyclone Zelia is strong winds in several areas in NTT," said BMKG forecaster El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station Franky Arianto Faot in a release in Kupang, Friday, February 14, as reported by Antara.

He said Tropical Cyclone Zelia was in West Australia which is estimated to move away from Indonesian territory. However, the cyclone still has an impact on the NTT region in the form of strong winds.

Meanwhile, the active Asian Monsoon and the weak La Nina phenomenon that are still around the NTT region also have an impact.

"This causes moderate rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the majority of areas in NTT," said Frengki.
