Supporting Eco-Friendly Campaign, Matchbox Launches Recycled Electric Vehicle Series
JAKARTA - The well-known diecast manufacturer Mattel, which produces Matchbox toys, announced plans for all of its toy production, including the packaging, which to be made with 100 percent recycled plastic starting in 2030.
Supporting this campaign, Matchbox launched a new series of toy cars based on electric and hybrid vehicles in real life, environmentally friendly, as well as to raise awareness of the environmental impact of automotive for children.
The first model from the production line of this series is the Tesla Roadster version, which will be combined with toys based on cars made by Nissan, Toyota, and BMW. Electric charging stations will also go on sale this year.
"We launched concept cars, just like the real car industry does", said Nuria Alonso, Matchbox Head of Marketing for EMEA.
She further explained that the series will be the first diecast model made from 99 percent recycled materials.
“We want to work with Tesla to inspire children as future riders. We think their parents would love to see how their children play with cars that promote environmental awareness, such as electric cars", she continued.
The launch is part of an overhaul plan carried out by Matchbox in the UK and Europe, to support environmental campaigns.
