'Mortal Kombat' Plays In Theaters Today, It Turns Out The Sub-Zero's Costume Worn By Joe Taslim Weights 20 Kilograms
JAKARTA - Mortal Kombat movie starts showing in theaters today, Wednesday, April 14. Joe Taslim uploaded some promos and invitations to watch the movie he starred in via Twitter and Instagram. Mortal Kombat airs in two formats: cinema and streaming service HBO Max simultaneously.
Directed by Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat follows an unconscious MMA fighter being chased by a group of assassins. Fearing for his family's safety, he sought a team to fight the group.
Simon McQuoid says the showdown between Sub-Zero and Scorpion ended in a stunning bare-handed fight. Therefore, Simon McQuoid put Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada in the role of the two characters because they are known for their martial arts prowess.
Joe Taslim admitted that he had objected when using Sub-Zero costumes. "Honestly, the costume is really heavy. I remember when I first put on the costume, I immediately thought about how to have fun with this costume. I was worried, and asked McQuoid, is this the only costume? He said yes, I immediately got worried", joe said in Interviewing The Mortal Kombat (2021) on the unCAGEDgamez YouTube channel quoted on Wednesday, April 14.

Luckily, it turns out that the production team is preparing a lighter costume that allows Joe to move more widely. "It turns out that there are other costumes prepared for the battle scene. The costume weighs about 10 kilos, the other 6-7 kilos, I can still move with this costume", he explained.
According to Joe, it took a week to adapt to the costume. "After the first two weeks, I felt back pain. It feels really heavy like carrying a load and then it becomes a squat. When the costume is removed, it's like still carrying a child on the back. But after three weeks of wearing the costume, I finally get used to it and be able to move freely", recalled Joe Taslim.
