Two Teachers Shot Dead By An Armed Criminal Group At Puncak, 46 Citizens Are Evacuated

JAKARTA - A total of 46 people in Beoga, Puncak Regency, Papua will be evacuated to a safer place, after a shooting that killed two teachers.

"There is a plan to evacuate residents who are currently displaced to Koramil and Beoga Police, but it is not yet known when it will be implemented considering that it is still being prepared", Papua Police Chief Irjen Mathius Fakhiri told Antara in Jayapura, Monday, April 12.

According to him, it is not easy to evacuate residents given the natural conditions, where the airfield is located can only use small-bodied aircraft.

Meanwhile, the police helicopter is only able to transport five people so that it will coordinate with the Puncak Regent regarding the plan.

"Tuesday, April 13, there will be a meeting with the Regent of Puncak Willem Wandik in Timika", admits Fakhiria.

The police chief also revealed that from the reports received, conditions in Beoga are relatively conducive but the National Army and the National Police Force (TNI-Polri) remain on standby.

A platoon of Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) was immediately sent to Beoga to strengthen existing personnel, added Papua Police Chief, Fakhiri who claimed to be currently in Timika.

The shooting of an armed criminal group (KKB) in Beoga District, Puncak District left two people dead, Oktovianus Rayo, who was shot Thursday, April 8, and Jonathan Renden, who was shot Friday, April 9.

A number of teachers and health workers are currently displaced to Koramil Beoga and its nearby homes.
