Palestine Views Russia Can Play A Key Role In Stabilizing The Middle East
JAKARTA - Russia can play a key role in achieving stability in the Middle East.
This was conveyed by the aide to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, Mahmoud al-Habbash to Sputnik after Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted that he wanted to be involved in finding conflict resolution between Iran and Israel.
Earlier, in a meeting with leading media leaders of BRICS member countries, Putin announced Russia's readiness to participate in easing Iran-Israeli tensions if the parties in conflict were interested in this matter.
"Russia is a large, influential country in the world, and this allows Russia to play an influential role in international affairs," al-Habbash said at the BRICS summit held in Kazan, Russia.
"Russia also has extraordinary interests and relationships in Arab and Islamic regions, so it is able to play an important role in achieving regional and global peace and stability," he added.
As previously reported, Israel launched airstrikes against a number of military targets in Iran on Saturday, October 26.

The attack was said to be a response to the massive rocket salvo carried out by Iran on October 1, which called their actions an act of self-defense and a response to the liquidation of leaders of the Hamas and Hezbollah movements.
As previously reported by Sputnik, Russia supports the creation of a Palestinian state, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday, October 18.
"The position we have been in since the Soviet era... the main way to solve the Palestinian issue is to create a complete Palestinian state," Putin said at a meeting with leading media leaders of member states of BRICS.
During the meeting, Putin said the United States (US) had destroyed a quartet in the Middle East, which was formed in 1991.
The quartet, which consists of the United Nations, the European Union, Russia, and the US, aims to mediate the peace process between Israel and Palestine.
"I think we should go back, maybe even expand this quartet, talk about how to restore these regions (Palestinian and Israeli), and how to bring back the people who left this region," Putin said.
