BMKG Estimates Extreme Rain To Hit Central Java October 22-24

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts the potential for extreme rain to hit a number of areas in Central Java (Central Java) in the period 22-24 October 2024.

Head of the Ahmad Yani Semarang Meteorological Station, Yoga Sambodo, said that humidity in various heights that tend to be wet has the potential to form Cumulonimbus clouds.

"This condition is also influenced by strong air liabilities in the Central Java region," he said in Semarang, Monday, October 21, which was confiscated by Antara.

The warm air temperature in the waters north and south of Java, he said, has the potential to increase the mass of water vapor which can increase the growth activity of rain clouds.

These conditions, he said, have the potential to cause extreme weather in the form of rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

A number of areas that are predicted to experience extreme weather include Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Temanggung, Semarang, Kendal, Boyolali, Batang, Demak, Blora, and Magelang regencies.

In addition, Pekalongan Regency and Semarang City and Magelang.

Therefore, he appealed to the public to remain vigilant against rising air temperature which has the potential to cause land and forest fires

Extreme weather forecasts for the next three days, he said, also have the potential for hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, landslides, and tornadoes.

"People living in disaster-prone areas are advised to be more vigilant," he said.
