Kunker To Berau, East Kalimantan, Jokowi Reminds Mining Companies To Care For The Environment

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded all mining companies to care about the environment and must carry out reclamation.

This was conveyed by the Head of State when asked about the rampant mining in Berau Regency on the sidelines of a working visit in the East Kalimantan (Kaltim) region, Thursday, September 26.

"The most important thing is that mining companies must care about the environment, then reclamation if they have been mined it must be, that is an obligation, it cannot be offered reclamation matters," said the President, confiscated by Antara.

The visit was the President's first visit to Berau Regency.

The Head of State admitted that he was surprised by the response from the Berau people to him.

"The first time I went to Berau Regency, I was very surprised by the enthusiasm of the people here, because maybe it's the first time," said Jokowi.

He also admitted that he was happy because he found the prices of basic commodities in the market at a good and stable price.
